| The Labor Party Press On-Line Edition has been available to users for almost
the last two years. In taking advantage of the Internet in general and the World Wide Web
specifically, we've been able to offer information on our party to those who might not run
into a Labor Party supporter in their area, offer documents and information to Labor Party
members to better organize their work on behalf of the party and generally compete with
the bosses media utilizing this new technology. In fact we get over 425 'hits' a week on
our web page, including many from overseas. The technology itself has advanced considerably since we went on-line two years ago. We would like to take advantage of the latest web browsers and the new features available to them. One of these features are Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). CSSs give web authors the ability to place elements on a page to within a pixel. They allow for fully edge to edge justified text, margins, indents and other typographical elements normally associated with Desktop Publishing. Beginning with the next on-line version of Labor Party Press, we will begin to implement some features of CSSs. In order for you, our readers, to take advantage of CSSs you need to acquire the latest of the most widely used Web browsers: Versions 4.0 of either Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Both a free to download (although they take along time to do so) or can be acquired from many Internet Service Providers on CD-ROM or floppy disk. If you have questions about this, please write me at: ---David Walters, LP Internet Coordinator |
