"March of the Americas"
KWRU Marches
To UN for Basic
Human Rights

On October 1, members of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union and friends set out on a month-long “March of the Americas.” KWRU, a Labor Party affiliate, organized the march to build support for the idea that everyone should have a basic human right to housing, food, education, health care and jobs at living wages.

LP organizer Tony Mazzocchi and other representatives from workers’, women’s, and human rights organizations around the globe helped send off the marchers in Washington, D.C. They will keep on marching until they reach the United Nations in New York City on November 1. Along the way, marchers will stop to meet with local activists and speak out about the need for economic human rights for all. LP unions and affiliates are helping mobilize along the route.

The march has gotten some celebrity endorsements. Bruce Springsteen dedicated four of six shows in Philadelphia to the KWRU’s campaign. Some bosses aren’t so bad! For more information about the March of the Americas, contact KWRU: (215) 203-1945; or visit their website at www.libertynet.org/kwru.
